The Peru Tigers took on Ole Miss in Boys Varsity Soccer action tonight at Bengal Memorial Stadium. The Tigers got on the board first as senior, Collyn Hults dribbled through the Ole Miss defense and scored the first goal of his soccer career. Later in the first half, Mississinewa tied the game up with a score off a corner kick. In the second half, Mississinewa had 6 shots on goal while Peru had 4. Backup Tiger goalkeeper, Trevon Crowe, had 6 saves to keep the Tigers in the match. The next match for the Tigers is on Thursday, August 20th, at Manchester.

Peru Advanced 8 wrestlers to the Fort Wayne Semi-State next Saturday. Three Peru Wrestlers competed in the Finals- Tori Forrest, Carter Kinter both earning Runner-Up honors and Jordan Rader was the champion at 170.

The Peru 7th grade girls move to 6-5 on the season by defeating Rochester Thursday night 28-17.  Leading all scorers was Cate Wolfe with 10 pts.

Tigers Win TRC
The Peru Tiger Wrestling team won their second Conference Championship in a row this weekend leading the field by 32.5 points. Junior Jordan Rader became the 26th Tiger wrestler to earn 100 career wins on his way to his second Conference Championship, while Senior Carter Kintner also won his second Conference Championship. Joining these two was Trey Sturgill, earning his first Conference Championship as a freshman. The Tigers will be competing at home this weekend in sectional action as they vie for their fifth consecutive Sectional Championship at Peru High School in the Tiger Arena at 9:00 a.m.

HS Tiger XC results from Logan Invite
The PHS Tiger XC team was in action for the first time this season at Logansport on Sat morning. The boys and girls runners did a great job! Two returning runners set career personal records (PR) and many set PR's since it was their first HS meet. Please congratulate the runners as you see them in the hallways or around town.
We will be back in action on Tues at N Miami.

Peru Volleyball vs. Mac
 Peru Volleyball took a tough loss at their home opener against Maconaquah on Thursday night (3-25, 12-25, 10-25).  The Tigers struggled to find a rhythm but managed to string together some points off of kills from Freshman Samantha Zak (3), Junior Lindley Prescott (2) and Freshman Courtlynn Crowe (1).  Aces were added by Senior Ellyn Badry (2) and Junior Angel Parks.  Service receptions by Badry (27), Senior Caitlyn Hopper (10) and Sophomore Caitlyn Mongosa (7) played a key role in point opportunities throughout the night.  


In JV action, the Tigers dominated Mac with their best performance of the season (25-17, 25-15).  Sophomore Violet Badger tallied 5 aces on the night with 5 service receptions and 4 digs.  Junior Marjon Rafie chiped in 2 aces and 2 assists while Junior Dani McCord dished out 11 assists to Badger (6), Sophomore Kelsey Schnitz (6), and Freshman Libbey Edwards (2).  


The Black and Gold will be back in action on Monday at Caston with a 5:30pm start time.

Mississinewa Match
 The Peru Tigers started their first match of the 2016 Fall season with 3 goals in the first half to jump out to a 3-0 lead at half time. Goals were scored by Noah Wiley, Trevon Crowe, and Zach Zorn. Devin Campbell and Torion'Ja Forrest each had an assist. A key play in the game took place just before half-time. The Tiger defense committed a penalty in the penalty box setting up a Penalty Kick for Mississinewa. Fortunately for the Tigers, Goalkeeper Braxton Wilhelm was up to the challenge and saved the penalty kick. This would prove to be a game-saving save. In the second half, Mississinewa scored 2 goals to make the score 3-2. The Tiger defense recovered to not allow another goal and preserve the win.

Wildkats score early and often
 The Peru Tiger Varsity Boys took on the Kokomo Wildkats in High School soccer action tonight. The Tigers took one on the chin as Kokomo beat the Tigers 11-1. The Wildkats got the first score :30 seconds into match with some precision passing and a goal by Keagan James. Adam Kirk tied things up for the Tiger, 4 minutes later, as his free kick beat the Wildkat goalkeeper. From there on it was all Wildkats, who were led by Keagan James who scored 3 goals. The Tigers had good performances by Jonah Lester and Adam Kirk in the midfield, and Braxton Wilhelm in goal, with 16 saves.

"This was a very good Kokomo team. They are well disciplined and pass the ball very well. Our defense is learning and they showed that they are remembering what they are learning. But we have a long way to go," said Coach 
Gerald Przybyszewski. 

The Tigers next match is a conference match at Whitko, on Thursday, August 27th at 6 pm.

Tiger volleyball fall to Manchester in TRC opener
 The Lady Tigers suffered another loss (18-25, 12-25, 19-25) in Tig-Arena last night as they hosted Manchester.  Junior libero Ellyn Badry played solid defense tallying up 18 digs and 13 serve receptions while Senior setter Maddy Edwards contributed 19 assists, 11 of those resulting in kills by Senior middle hitter Brooklyne Wood who also added 4 solo blocks on the night.  Their next match is Thursday, August 20th when they travel to county rival Maconaquah. The match is set to begin at 6:00 PM.

Peru volleyball drops season opener
The Lady Tigers (0-1) opened their season with a tough loss in 3  (17-25, 18-25, 11-25) sets to a strong Tipton (1-0) program.  Senior Alli Gardner had a strong all-around debute and led the team in kills (5) and solo blocks (5) while also pairing up with Junior libero Ellyn Badry to cover the back row with 9 and 15 digs respectively.  Senior setter Maddy Edwards tallied 10 assists in her first Varsity appearance while Senior Carley Sisson added some serving runs and 2 aces.  The Tigers will look to rebound against the Manchester Squires  Tuesday night in their TRC opener.  The game is scheduled for 6:00 PM in Tig-Arena.

Baseball Game tonight postponed
 Due to the downpouring of rain which caused Twin Lakes field to become unplayable, we are forced to move tonight's game to tomorrow night (Wednesday, 5/27).
Tomorrow's schedule will be as follows:

7:30 PM Twin Lakes vs. Peru
The semifinals will be played on Thursday, 5/28, and the Championship will be played on Friday, 5/29.

Lady Running Bengals
 The Lady Runnin’ Bengals tied for 13th out of 48 schools in the Warsaw Regional with 13 points.  The Runnin’ Bengals were led by Sidney Fuller who qualified for the state meet by placing second in the 100HH with a time of :16.14.    The Bengal 4x100 relay team of Josie Murphy/Adreana Spohn/Brooklyne Wood/Sidney Fuller finished 6th with a new school record 50.41.   Josie Murphy finished 7th in the long jump with a leap of 16’ 5.   Jesse Zvers finished 15th in the 1600 meter run with a 5:47 and she also finished 15th in the 3200 with a time of 12:45.

 The 14th ranked Class 3 A Peru Tigers shutout Manchester 8-0 on senior night at beautiful Tiger Field.  The Tigers are now 16-6 on the year. Sean Smith got the win on the bump for the Tigers. Key hitters for Peru was:

The 14th ranked Peru Tiger Baseball Program improved to 14-6 with a 5-4 win over Hamilton Heights on the road.  Dexter Shuler got the win on the mound and Cameron Beauchamp got the save.

The Lady Runnin’ Bengals
The Lady Runnin’ Bengals are the undisputed 2015 Sectional Champions!!!   After battling all night long the lady Bengals scored 4 points in the final relay to capture our first title in 33 years (1982)
The Lady Bengals were led by triple winner Sidney Fuller who won the 100 and 300 hurdles.  The Bengals were also led by Jesse Zvers who won the 3200 and finished runners-up in the 1600.

Lady Tigers
The Lady Tigers got out hit in their final MIC game against Hamilton Heights on Tuesday night.  The Tigers came away with 9 hits and were lead by Junior Ashley Caldwell who was 2 for 2 with a 2-run homer, a single and a walk.  Senior Kelsie West was solid with 2 doubles, a single and an RBI while singles were also contributed by Freshman Betheny Caldwell, Senior Molly Prys, and Sophomore Ryann Constable.  Betheny Caldwell and Kelsie West (1K) split time in the circle. The Lady Tigers wrap up their regular season at home on Thursday night @ 5pm with a celebration of Senior Night. Come support our girls and all their hard work through their high school careers!

The Girls Tennis Team improved their record to 4-2 with a 4-1 conference win over a strong Northwestern team Tuesday night. Winning for Peru:  Adri Ward #1 Singles, Anna Boyer #2 singles, Kyle Eckerley #3 singles, and Grace Comerford/Mallory Struble #1 doubles.  

Peru will travel to Logansport Wednesday night to take on the Berries.

Tigers Travel for Regional Opener
The Peru Tiger baseball program will play Griffith in Game 2 of Saturday's IHSAA Regional at Griffith High School. The game will be approximately at 12:00 PM CT/1:00 PM ET. The championship will be at 6:00 PM CT/7:00 PM ET.  The Tigers are 19-7 on the season after beating Northwestern 5-1 in the opening round of Sectionals and beating Benton Central 9-0 to claim the Sectional Championship.  The Panthers are 15-12 on the season after beating Gary Roosevelt 34-0 in the opening round of Sectionals and beating Hammond Gavit 12-2 to claim their Sectional Championship.
